Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Lead for a 5-year national research project to drive the engineering and delivery of a cutting-edge web platform for the development, deployment, and operation of digital twins. Under the authority of the program scientific directors, the successful candidate will drive the technical vision and all key technology decisions, ensuring the seamless integration of contributions from multiple research and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Strategy, Architecture & Development: define the overall architecture for a scalable, cloud-native web platform supporting the overall lifecycle of digital twins. In charge of the delivery of the platform in collaboration with the partners of the project, to comply with the use cases.
- Platform Development Leadership: guide and mentor development teams through all phases—design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Integration & Collaboration:
- Coordinate with research partners to integrate components such as, among others, simulation engines, IoT data sources, analytics modules, visualization components…
- Establish APIs for external tool and device integration.
- Monitoring & Quality Assurance:
- track technical milestones, manage risks, and guarantee security, scalability, and reliability.
- Maintain documentation and present progress to stakeholders and funding bodies.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale software projects.
- Strong technical expertise in software development, including proficiency in programming languages, frameworks and technologies relevant to the project.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Digital twin concepts, cyber-physical systems, modeling & simulation, MBSE, and AI.
- Modern web architectures (microservices, containerization, cloud orchestration).
- Experience with agile project management, development methodologies & tools, and DevOps.
- Data streaming/processing (e.g., Kafka, MQTT).
- Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with IoT, industrial protocols, or edge computing.
- Experience with open-source development and collaborative research (e.g., Horizon Europe, NSF, or similar programs).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel within France and occasionally abroad.
